Appeals and Achievements

Read our annual review

Mahasraddha, the director of the Abhayaratna Trust writes: ‘The Abhayaratna Trust is pleased to publishing its 2021 Annual Report which gives you a well-presented overview of our work to help Order members support each other where there is hardship.’

You can also read about our continuing strategic work to respond to key issues in the Order including health, housing and non-financial support.

Please read the report; we have kept it concise so that it is easily read and communicates the essential information. Let us know what you think. And if you are not already doing so, I hope you will feel moved to support our work on behalf of the Order, either by a regular donation and/or by getting involved in our work by, for example, helping to set up a Local Care Network at your Centre or becoming an Abhayaratna Trust rep.’

Appeal for Bodhikamala

Bodhikamala lives in Toluca, Mexico and together with her partner Ruchiramati runs the Toluca Buddhist Centre. They live on very modest levels of Centre support.

Bodhikamala would very much like to go to Adhisthana this July, to attend the International Course. However, the travel – more expensive in the summer – will be around £1500 including flights, insurance and train travel. The Abhayaratna Trust has made a £750 grant to Bodhikamala and would like your help to raise the other £750.

If you can, please go use this link to donate any amount by card or PayPal if you live in the UK.

Only if you bank outside the UK use this link and choose option 3 PayPal, or contact jinavamsa@abhayaratnatrust.org for other ways to give.

Bodhikamala writes: “Since giving my whole time to the Order in Mexico keeps me very short in economic stability, receiving any support internationally means so much to me; makes me feel connected and inspired to keep going… Any help would be amazing!”

An update on Ashvajit

After his serious head injury and time in hospital, Ashvajit is continuing to slowly recover. He is now staying at Manjugita’s home with daytime nursing care. Mahamati flew to Mexico last month to be with Ashvajit and tells us that he is hopeful that by mid April Ashvajit will be able to return to the UK. Most of the funds that many of you helped us to raise have been successfully used for Ashvajit’s hospital and home nursing care costs. Thank you again.

And just to let you know….

Taradakini, who works for Abhayaratna Trust, has started a private fundraiser to help Triratna Order and sangha members in Poland support Ukrainian refugees. They have turned the Krakow Buddhist Centre into an overnight shelter, giving much needed food, warmth, help with onward travel, and kindness. You can find out more here
