An appeal to help Savika recover from financial setbacks
Paramachitta writes: Savika needs our help at this time of severe financial difficulty. As her public preceptor, I want to tell you about Savika’s circumstances: She and her husband Elvis and their two young daughters fled Venezuela for a better life and near sangha. With considerable effort they have been able to make a life in Valencia, Spain, and Savika was ordained three years ago.
As in so many parts of the world, this year the cost of living has increased markedly and it is so true in a place like Valencia where the pressure of tourism has raised rental prices to the extent that even native Spanish workers are struggling, let alone immigrants with families and fewer options.
This has been Savika’s experience. They are hard workers. Elvis has found casual, insecure work on building sites, and Savika works as a low paid casual cleaner. However, Savika recently had thyroid cancer treatment, during which time she was not able to work, and she may need further treatment.
Savika’s health plus having to move accommodation recently means they need the sangha’s help to get their finances back in balance again.
With Abhayaratna Trust, we are asking you to help us to raise £6,500 to
overcome Savika and her family’s financial setbacks. Please donate securely today here in a choice of currencies.
All donations will be acknowledged and 10% of what you give will go towards
helping other Order members in financial need. Thank you.
