Work for The Abhayaratna Trust
Opportunity for an Order member to join the Trust as its Director
The Abhayaratna Trust works to relieve immediate financial hardship among Order members. We also take a strategic view, helping to respond to crises (e.g. COVID in India) and the implications of the Order’s ageing demographic.
We are seeking an active Order member to serve as Director. This is an exciting time to join the Abhayaratna Trust and the role involves leadership, vision and strategic planning, innovation, and operational management.
The role is full time, with flexibility for part-time arrangements for the right candidate.
· Role purpose and key responsibilities: The Director will develop and implement the Trust’s vision and strategy, innovate new areas of work as required, oversee daily operations, provide leadership to the Trust’s team and represent the Trust at key Order events, including presentations.
· Required skills and attributes: Candidates must demonstrate leadership, initiative, strategic thinking, supervisory experience, effective communication, proficiency in Microsoft Office, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively (both internally and externally to Triratna), and ability to stay motivated in remote working.
· Employment details: The role includes attending weekly online Team meetings and each (normally quarterly) Trust meeting (alternating online and in-person at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre, UK).
· Application process and requirements: Applicants must be Triratna Buddhist Order members and undergo a basic DBS check; contact Mahasraddha for further details on how to apply and an informal chat (mahasraddha@abhayaratnatrust.org ).
Interviews are expected to take place in early November, and ideally a start date before the end of 2025.
